About the Organization
My Brother’s Keeper Transitional Housing is a disabled veteran-run nonprofit organization that provides vital housing and supportive services for emancipated foster youth ages 18-25 who are aging out of the foster care system. When youth transition out of foster care, they lose the support systems that many rely on, including stable housing. Without familial connections or savings, the leap into adulthood can feel overwhelming.
Our Housing Program and Services
We believe every young person deserves the chance to succeed. Our transitional housing program and comprehensive wraparound services are designed to empower youth as they navigate this difficult period. Unlike other programs, My Brother’s Keeper Transitional Housing focuses solely on giving youth the tools and resources they need to thrive.
We understand that for many, the foster care experience can be traumatic, and the transition to independence is fraught with difficulties, disappointment, and limited opportunities. This is why we offer a dynamic, life-changing program aimed at improving long-term outcomes. Our dedication to innovative support systems ensures that every youth we serve is equipped to face the future with confidence and resilience.
Comprehensive Support for a Successful Transition
We offer fully furnished and equipped apartments, providing a safe and comfortable environment for youth transitioning to independence. Our program goes beyond just housing; we teach critical life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting to prepare them for everyday challenges. Each youth also receives tailored employment development services to help them secure meaningful jobs with sustainable wages.
Education is a cornerstone of our approach, and we strongly advocate for higher education, assisting with college enrollment and securing financial aid. Additionally, every participant is supported by a dedicated team of professionals, including social workers, clinical therapists, housing specialists, case workers, and program advocates, ensuring they receive the personalized care they need to thrive.
Antwone O’Quinn, our CEO and executive director, leads this mission with a deep commitment to creating lasting solutions for the youth we serve.
