Helping Young Individuals Navigate Adulthood with Confidence

Who We Serve

At My Brother’s Keeper Transitional Housing, we are committed to helping youth who have aged out of the foster care system. These young adults often face an overwhelming transition to independence, with limited resources and no family safety net to rely on.

The Stark Reality of Aging Out of Foster Care

Each year, approximately 4,000 youth in California age out of foster care, facing a daunting and uncertain future. Without the support systems that many take for granted, these young adults are at a higher risk for homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, incarceration, trafficking, and early pregnancy.

Shockingly, 97% of these youth will not earn a college degree by the age of 26, and 25% will find themselves homeless immediately after leaving the foster care system. These statistics highlight the urgent need for programs that provide comprehensive support to help them successfully transition to adulthood.

Building Strong Foundations for a Brighter Future

At My Brother’s Keeper Transitional Housing, we are committed to providing the tools and resources necessary for our youth to thrive as independent adults. Our financial literacy program educates them on important topics such as debt management, retirement planning, and creating wealth through homeownership.

For those interested in postsecondary education, we guide them through the entire admissions process, helping them find scholarships and funding sources. For youth unsure of their career or educational direction, we offer vocational exploration, assisting them in securing apprenticeships, job training, and certification programs.

Our ultimate goal is for each youth in our program to leave with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to succeed—whether that means holding a high-paying job, actively contributing to a retirement plan, or being on the path to owning their own home.
